Aster Kit-built Gauge 1 Live Steam West Country Light Pacific 'Wadebridge' No. 21C107, Southern Malachite Green

1 item left

A superbly built Aster kit of a Southern Railway West Country Light Pacific 'Wadebridge'. Finished in the eye-catching late Southern livery of Malachite green, this model is an excellent steamer, having only been steamed once or twice in its history.

Built during the War effort of World War 2 these locomotives quickly became known as 'Spam Cans' due to their air smoothed casing. Designed by Oliver Bulleid 110 of these locomotives were built during the period of 1945-1951. 'Wadebridge' was built in Brighton Works in 1945 and lasted in service until 1965. After being sent to Barry Island scrapyard in 1966, the locomotive was saved for preservation and is currently being overhauled to mainline standards.
