New from Darlington works in 1928 J39 No.2713 was first allocated to York shed prior to a transfer south to Stratford, spending a large part of its career in the south of England. With almost 300 constructed the J39's were largely to be found on local trip and freight workings with most lasting around 30 years. From an unknown kit the model here represents the class in its pre-war un-lined black livery.
