Introduced by the LBSCR from 1909 to improve timings on the London – Brighton run, the Class I3 tank locomotives were a successful design from the drawing board of D. E. Marsh. No. 2089 took to the rails in 1912 and survived into BR days until withdrawal in 1951. This superbly constructed model evokes the sturdy appearance of the prototype and displays excellent running qualities.
