Help & Support
The Edward Thompson designed A2/3's had a mixed reputation amongst crews and railway enthusiasts alike, and were certainly not the prettiest engines ever designed. Appearing in the immediate post-war period they fulfilled an immediate need on Britain's run-down railways but many had been consigned to their fate by the early 1960's, with none preserved. Here we have No.60517 in the form of the DJH kit-built version, but sadly it has suffered from an upward bend at the front of the main frames, possibly from being dropped. With care and a partial strip-down this could be repaired.
