Sancheng Bachamnn Brass GWR King Class 4-6-0 No.6023 'King Edward II', Pro Weathered

Notify me when this product is available:

New from Swindon in 1930 the Collet-designed King class epitomised Great Western luxury and prestige hauling crack expresses through to the 1960's. However, decline followed with dieselisation and modernisation and the end came for this loco, King Edward II, in 1962.  Destined for scrapping the loco was to be one of the fortunate steam locomotives that was consigned to Dai Woodham's scrapyard in Barry, from where it was ultimately saved for preservation.   Following a restoration and various overhauls it has continued to fly the flag for Great Western since that time. The model here represents 'KEII' in early 1950's guise with BR early crest, weathered by Neil Armitage to give an appropriate post-run appearance.
