Gauge 1 Live Steam (Scratch/Kit-Built) GWR Hall Class No. 4996 'Eden Hall'

1 item left

The 'Hall' class of steam locos was one of the GWR's most successful designs, being the foundation of many other classes of 4-6-0, including Granges, Manors, Counties and even the LMS 'Black 5' and LNER 'B1'. Designed in 1928 by Charles Collett, the 'Hall' class could be found all over the GWR's network performing various mixed traffic duties. The class was essentially a version of the successful 'Saint' class from 1902, but with smaller driving wheels. BR gave the class the power classification of 5MT.

'Eden Hall' was built in 1931 and withdrawn and scrapped in 1963.
