Sancheng's 'Patriots' continue to be sought-after and are an excellent rendition of the purposeful prototype; this model of no. 5541 is in excellent condition.
The engines were introduced by the LMS in the early 1930s to operate express passenger services on the West Coast Main Line. Relegated to mixed traffic work following the introduction of diesel traction, they were all withdrawn by 1962.
