The Caledonian Railway 918 class was designed by John F. McIntosh and built at St Rollox Works in 1906, with five being produced in total.

The class formed one of six different 4-6-0 designs by McIntosh for various workings on the CR network. The 918 class was built for fast goods workings, being allocated to the occasional passenger working.

The class was based on the Caledonian's 'mainline'; all withdrawn by 1930, with none preserved.
