Sunset Models Finescale O Gauge Norfolk & Western 2-8-8-2 'Mallett' No. 2184

1 item left

The Norfolk and Western Class Y6b was a class of 2-8-8-2 'Malletts' built between 1948 and 1952 with a total of 30 examples for the Norfolk & Western Railway. The Y6b was very much a workhorse locomotive hauling huge freight trains and the epitome of the compound mallet development design delivering something around 5500 horse power - a huge figure for the 1940's.  Replaced by diesel power the last of the class were retired in 1960 with one, No.2174, finding salvation in preservation.

Our model shows the excellence and skills f the Korean brass manufacturers used by Sunset and the sheer scale and presence of these huge machines is perfectly captured.
