Aster Gauge 1 (Factory-Built) Live Steam SNCF Class 232 U1

Notify me when this product is available:

France's last main-line built locomotive is presented here in fantastic condition, with excellent steaming capabilities, making this a wonderful model to observe.

The locomotive was first ordered in 1935, however delivery was received in 1949 due to wartime delays. Designed under the supervision of Marc de Caso, the locomotive featured many up to date technologies for the time and featured a 4 cylinder compound arrangement with outside mounted Walschaert's valve gear. Sadly due to France's progression with electrification, this locomotive would be one of a kind and the final example of French mainline steam ever built. Withdrawn in 1961, she was restored between 1973-1976 and can now be found on display at Cité du Train in Mulhouse, France.

Kit-built by Aster this model is in excellent condition.
