Overland Models American O Scale Norfolk & Western J Class 4-8-4 No. 611

1 item left

The Norfolk & Western's 14 J Class steam engines entered service from 1941 and were the most powerful 4-8-4 locomotives ever built. Designed to haul prestigious passenger trains, notably between Norfolk (Virginia) and Cincinnati (Ohio), they led distinguished but short lives; all but one had been retired by 1959. No. 611 was built in 1950 and is now the only preserved member of the class, having a service life of just 9 years.

This model, beautifully constructed from brass by Ajin and imported by Overland Models, features superbly fine details and impressive muscle-power. Able to handle prototypically long trains with ease, it makes a fine spectacle when in motion – either when storming around a track at a scale 100mph or while 'simmering' manfully on shed.
