The Railway Operating Division, part of the Royal Engineers, was formed to operate railways in the theatre of war. Requisitioning locomotives from a number of companies it also adopted the Robinson (Great Central) 8K as its standard freight loco and a considerable number were deployed. Featured here and constructed from what is believed to be a Gladiator kit with RG7 motor/gearbox, the model displays the class in ROD livery. Lightly weathered it represents how this steam workhorse would have looked towards the end of The Great War.
