The Midland Railway's 1000 Class locomotives were introduced by Richard Deeley from 1905 and were a development of Samuel Jonhson's earlier compound engines. Fleet of foot, they found work on passenger trains across the region, from the Home Counties to North West England.

Built to an excellent standard from a Slater's kit, this model is an superb runner.
