Gresley's B17 locomotives were introduced from 1928 and used on Great Eastern passenger trains from London to Norwich and Cambridge. Known as 'Footballers' this class were mainly named after English football teams that the LNER served stations for, with others being named after various halls and stately homes. No. 61657 'Doncaster Rovers' was built in 1936, being based at Colwick. The locomotive then lasted 24 years in service until withdrawal from March shed and later scrapped in 1960.
This model here, has been fitted with DCC Sound, working front lamps and a working smoke unit (function 11).
