Construction of Pullmans in the UK started as early as 1874 firstly by the Midland Railway with various designs appearing throughout the 19th and 20th centuries. The pullman concept was created by George Pullman in the USA to provide luxury rail travel to the US and also branching out to the UK and Europe. All Pullman services in the UK ended in the 1970s with various vehicles being sold into preservation. 

This model depicts an early 1900s 'Matchboard' type and is very well constructed.
