This magnificent GWR 'King' has been constructed from an Aster kit (partially by the manufacturer) and has seen little use.
No. 6000 was built in June 1927 and shipped to the US two months later to star in the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad’s centenary celebrations. Allocated to Old Oak Common on its return, the engine later moved to Bristol (in 1950) before heading back to the London suburbs to see out its working life. It now resides at Swindon Works' 'Steam' Museum as part of the National Collection.
