The last days of steam in 1968 saw concerted efforts by enthusiasts to bring a bit of sparkle to those last engines remaining. One of those to receive attention from the Lostock Hall crew was No.45388 which our skilful weatherers have brought to life from a July 1968 photo showing the loco in 'improved' condition. With white buffers, painted bufferbeam, and painted '10D' shed-plate, the real loco saw out the last days of steam with a little dignity. The model, which is pre-owned, faithfully captures the loco in its final guise, with the added benefit of excellent running qualities.
