Finescale O Gauge (Kit-Built) LNER B12 No. 8579 Apple Green

1 item left

The LNER's B12 engines began life as the Great Eastern Railway's S69 Class and were designed to haul express passenger trains form London Liverpool Street. No. 8579 first took to the rails in 1928 and enjoyed stays at Stratford and Colchester until withdrawal in 1957.

Constructed to a high standard from a brass kit of unknown origin, this model has been hand lined and finished to a professional standard. It should be noted, however, that it is fitted with wheels that are too coarse to run smoothly on Peco track. It is thus best suited to running on coarse scale track systems – or as a candidate for re-wheeling.

Condition Description

The model is in excellent condition overall, with a few light marks to the inside of the tender and paint chips to the running plate and around the lower edges of the tender. As noted above, although constructed to finescale standards, the model is fitted with coarse-scale wheels. There is minimal backhead detail.

Track Test

Good - Struggles at low speeds

Test Results

A good runner overall, with a strong mechanism that is sometimes hesitant at low speed. Running on finescale track is hampered by the current wheelsets, which make contact with the rail chairs.
