New from Beyer-Peacock Works in 1964 D.8607 was one of 117 centre-cab Bo-Bo's built as part of the British Railways 1960's dieselisation programme. The class were mechanically not a success and much of their intended work-load was rapidly disappearing. The model listed here, which is factory weathered, survived a mere 7 years in traffic before scrapping in the early 1970's.
