The well regarded Barton-Wright 'Ironclad' or L&YR Class 25 0-6-0 locomotives were one of the success stories of the Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway, with 280 built and used across the north of England for over 70 years. With the prototype surviving well into the post nationalisation era and one surviving into preservation, this type of locomotive was a regular in areas around Bolton and the North West of England. The preserved example No. 957 / 52044, featured in the Railway Children film as the 'Green Dragon' and can now be found at the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway.

Excellent/Smooth Runner (at low, medium & high speeds)

Test Results

Tested on Peco track. Model is an excellent smooth runner, with a small amount of motor noise at lower speeds, but this does not detract from the running quality.
