Beginning life as part of the LBSCR 1874-1883 built E1 class, this locomotive gained its E1/R appearance between 1927-1929, being used on the Western section of the Southern Railway to fill a gap in the need for passenger tank locomotives. Found to be successful the class lasted in service until 1959, being replaced by the Ivatt 2-6-2Ts. Non have been preserved. 

Presented here is an excellent depiction of the class constructed of brass and metal components.
