New from Darlington Works in the first year after Nationalisation, Peppercorn-designed Pacific No.60137 'Redgauntlet' was, like most class members, to have a very short service life of just 14 years. The A1's did however put in some sterling work on the East Coast route during the 1950's and the class was universally well regarded. In model form they come little better than this professionally-built example, finished in BR Green with a very lightly weathered patina.
