Thompson's B1s were a successful mixed traffic design that entered service in 1942 and spread to all corners of the LNER network. This example, No. 61221, was constructed in 1947 by The North British Locomotive Company. Allocated between Carlisle Canal, Haymarket and St. Margarets Sheds, she lasted in service until 1965, being withdrawn and later scrapped that year.
This beautiful Piercy Models kit-built model features the maker's signature heavy cast construction; and features an impressive opening smokebox door with working door dart and excellent tube plate/blast pipe detail.
