Weathering and Customisation by Neil Armitage

Since Neil joined the ECT family, back in September 2019, his weathering skills have become very well known across the hobby.

Neil has always been a railway modeller and has developed a unique talent for bringing a model to life, some examples of which are shown in the pictures to the left.

His weathering doesn’t just include a blow over. Neil will use his experience and real life pictures to make your model yours. His techniques include, but aren’t limited to the following:

Body weathering

Chassis weathering

Oil marks around axle boxes

Rust effect to bogies, brakes, wheels, etc…

Buffer marking

Imitation of steam marking to the top of steam locos

Light weathering to the roof

Realistic coal fitted with overspill

Water splatter marks around valves

You can add weathering by Neil to any product we stock by following the instructions below. Unfortunately, we don’t take outside jobs.

Step 1: Choose the type of item you would like to have weathered or customised

Step 2: If you would like weathering, choose the style you would like and add some notes below

Step 3: If you would like numbering or naming, add this and add notes.

Step 4: If you have a specific way you would like your model weathered, then you can upload a picture for Neil to work from.

Step 5: Finally, click ADD TO CART
