Newsletter No. 31
Good afternoon,
I hope this newsletter finds you well.
I currently find myself on holiday in sunny Vilamoura, on the Portugal Algarve, topping up my sunburn.
Getting here was tricky - I'm not the best at airports due to most of my holidays taking in place in either Northumberland or The Lake District - and due to joining the holiday a few days late after Telford I was left to travel alone... Never a good idea.
Luckily, I made it, and I'm here taking a break from work and I'm... well... working...
Telford
Like always, Telford came and went in the blink of an eye. For me, I never stopped talking all weekend; neither did Paddy, who was showcasing the Darstaed Mk1 coaches in their new display case.
The feedback, as always, was tremendous! I'm always very humbled by the feedback from yourselves, I consider myself very lucky to be working in such a friendly and knowledgeable industry.
The team and I make a real effort to go the extra mile and maintain a hands on, personal service - a number of our customers thanked us for that this weekend, which for myself made a great impression, so thank you.
Likewise, our pre-owned stall took a good hit. We had plenty of wagons in sealed bags - they always fly out - alongside some superb locos and professionally built coaches.
Usually on the Sunday I'd get the chance to have a good look around, however this year I barely got a minute free. I'm not complaining - on the contrary - it was superb to see that buzz in the air, which seems to be growing year on year within this industry.
Upcoming Stock
Well, with the end of Telford comes the influx of new stock to the website and eBay.
We've made a start this week... ok, Paddy and Holly have made a start this week (well, you can't list stock from the poolside!). Among the first items up for sale will be some fantastic 7mm LMS stock, including some professionally built coaches, finely detailed locos and some LMS coaches built from the etched brass Janick kits.
For eBay we intend to list some American N gauge alongside various HO and OO items, many of which are limited editions.
Darstaed Mk1 Mainline Coaches
With the Mk1 Suburban coaches coming very early next year, I thought I'd give you some final updates on the progress of the mainline Mk1s.
At the end of this month and throughout October/November we should be receiving the catering stock.
The pre-orders for these have been very strong, and out of all the coach types the catering vehicles are those which I have most been looking forward to. As always, as soon as these come into stock we'll get pictures and info on the website, and Paddy will begin the job of picking up the phone and calling all those with pre-orders.
On a separate note, we have managed to get our hands on one or two set As in each livery - now updated on the website and available for immediate dispatch.
Darstaed Bogie Tankers
We have now reduced the price on the popular Darstaed bogie tankers! These are now £59 each with the option to have one weathered for £10 extra, see the website for all available liveries.
Re-runs
Some good news: Due to popular demand, and a small production gap in the factory, we are able to do a small re-run of the Mk1 coaches. These will be manufactured in the coming months, ready for release circa December/January time. I'd therefore like to use this opportunity to put forward the question: which coaches would you like to see done?
Let me expand a little, we have the ability to do any livery/coach type (produced or yet to be released from Darstaed) with either Mk1 bogies or Commonwealth bogies.
If you would like to suggest anything or put in a pre-order, please may you send an email to Paddy, (paddy@ellisclarktrains.com).
All the best,
Ellis.
