Pugs n' Dubs Update

This week, the postman came knocking with two important packages – so it’s time for an update on our two OO Gauge locomotive projects.

The one with lots of wheels...

Firstly, we now have a running sample of our Austerity 2-10-0. Although this may appear to be a little 'under-dressed' compared to previous samples, the big difference is what's under the hood. We'll be putting the loco through her paces over the next few weeks on a model engine's worst nightmare – namely, our assualt course of tortuous trackwork and punishing gradients. Will she have what it takes to bear the Clark Railworks brand name? Watch this space...

As an aside, this sample gives you a flavour of the tailored foam packaging you can expect from our 'DubDees' as well as the full-size front pony wheels that'll be fitted to all models as standard.

The one with not so many wheels...

The next exciting thing to plop through the letter box was a bag of bits. Not just any old bits, mind you, but virtually all the component parts of our 4mm scale Pug. We get these to confirm that everything’s been tooled correctly before hitting the Big Green Button on production samples.

Though they may not look glamorous, we’re over the moon with these. We’re taking die-cast construction up a notch with our ‘mini-pugs’, which will feature incredibly fine detail previously only associated with injection-moulded plastics. The fit and finish of the components is already superb; almost everything you see here is metal, and the model just feels ‘right’ in the hand – which, of course, it fits perfectly into!

Our OO Gauge Pug will follow in the wake of its big (i.e. O Gauge) sister, for which decorated samples are due soon. View and pre-order our full range of ‘Little ‘Uns’ here…or go large here

On the subject of O Gauge, don’t forget there’s just over two weeks to go before our first show of the year – the Gauge O Guild’s Spring Show at Kettering Leisure Village on Saturday, 7 March. There’ll be a great lineup of layouts, demonstrations and all the main large-scale traders. Naturally, you’ll want to make Ellis Clark Trains your first stop; we’ll be there in force with all our ‘7-mil’ products – plus a truck-full of pre-owned bargains. You’ll need something to go with those Pugs, after all…
