Finescale O Gauge (Kit-Built) GWR King No. 6000 'King George V', GWR Lined Green

1 item left

Constructed to an excellent standard from an etched brass kit. No. 6000 was built in June 1927 and was then shipped to the United States in August 1927 to feature in the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad’s centenary celebrations. While she was in the US, King George V was presented with a bell and plaque (as currently seen carried by her in the present day).

6000 was allocated to Old Oak Common on return from the US and was later moved to Bristol in 1950, before being reallocated back to Old Oak Common. King George V was then withdrawn in December 1962.

The loco was claimed for the National Collection in 1975, having previously been based in Swindon at the Museum of the GWR.

She now resides at the NRM as a static display.
