William Stanier's 'go anywhere, do anything' Black 5s were the LMS and Midland regions mixed traffic motive power of choice covering all corners of Britain's railway network. This example No. 44954 was constructed at Horwich Works in 1946, and was allocated to Crewe North and Carstairs Sheds throughout its working life. Withdrawn in 1966, the locomotive was sadly later scrapped.
This excellent David Andrews brass kit-built depiction has been constructed and finished to a high standard and has received some excellently applied aftermarket detailing. This includes impressive crew figures, cab backhead detail and picked out pipework on the lubricator boxes.
