Decorated to a high standard from a possible mix of kit/scratch built brass components, this SR Schools Class has been finished in a beautiful rendition of Malachite Green with handling and insignia.
The Southern Region's V Class engines were designed to operate second-tier express services across the network, where short turntables necessitated an engine with a compact wheelbase - essentially being a cut down 'Lord Nelson' with three cylinders. They were named after well-known public schools, and 40 were built, with this example lasting in service until 1962.
