The Southern Pacific Railroad used hundreds of M-Class 'Moguls' for switching and short-distance freight trains in California from the late nineteenth century. Despite their compact nature, these engines possessed excellent haulage capabilities and could more than hold their own with lengthy rakes of assorted wagons. This, together with the fact that they were used in flatter areas of the state, earned them the nickname 'Valley Mallets'.
Glacier Models' delightful rendition of no. 1767 sports all-brass construction, exquisite detail and performance to match the prototype. The model is equipped for DCC (non-sound) operation and depicts one of the engines converted to burn oil in the 1930s. This is a truly stunning engine that is rarely available on the pre-owned market.
