Edward Thompson's A2/3s had a mixed reputation among crews and were certainly not the prettiest engines ever designed. They fulfilled an immediate post-war need on Britain's run-down railways, but many had been scrapped by the early 1960s, with none preserved. This model of no. 60517 (from a DJH kit) has suffered an upward bend to the front of the main frames, possibly from being dropped. With care and a partial strip-down, this could be repaired.
*Please note that items sold via The Workshop are not covered by our usual warranty and are intended as project pieces requiring maintenance and/or rectification.
