Between the earlier versions of the Class 40 fitted with disc head-codes, and the later versions with a four-character head-code, was a batch of twenty locomotives fitted with a split head-code version. This type was faithfully modelled as a Just Like The Real Thing kit and an excellent and well-built example is presented here. With a Slaters motor/gearbox and Delrin chain drive on each bogie, plus a moderately heavy weathering, this is a good runner and captures the late 1970's look of these powerful and iconic locomotives.
