Constructed from a David Andrews kit, this lovely ex-SECR Rebuilt E1 has been finished to a high standard from brass components. Featuring a wonderful wealth of added detail, the model exhibits a excellent backhead of cab detail, working inside motion and a lightly weathered finish to make this a truly impressive model.
Rebuilt after the WW1 Armistice in 1918, 11 SECR E Class locomotives were rebuilt between 1919 and 1920 to meet the demands of heavier loads on London to Dover Boat Trains. Rebuilt by Maunsell, the locomotives featured larger cylinders and boiler/firebox whilst saving weight on the design elsewhere. Being classified as E1, the locomotives lasted in service until 1961 and were later all unfortunately scrapped.
