Professionally constructed, decorated and weathered from a DJB kit, this wonderful example of an ex-SR Schools class has been fitted with fully working inside valve gear and an excellent wealth of backhead detail. Finished in a beautiful rendition of BR Green with Late Crests, the model here has been finished as no. 30906 'Sherborne' with a lightly weathered finish.
The Southern Region's V Class engines were designed to operate second-tier express services across the network, where short turntables necessitated an engine with a compact wheelbase - essentially being a cut down 'Lord Nelson' with three cylinders. They were named after well-known public schools, and 40 were built, with this example lasting in service until 1962.
