Finescale O Gauge (Kit-Built) LNER Class U1 Garratt No. 2395, LNER Lined Black

1 item left

The LNER's unique Class U1 Garratt was the longest and most powerful loco ever to run on British metals. Designed as a banking engine for the arduous Woodhead route and built in 1925, it was later trialled (albeit unsuccessfully) on the Lickey incline. As a one-off, the locomotive was destined never to fit with a more 'standardised' railway; it was withdrawn and scrapped in 1955.

This model is as special as the prototype; having been constructed to a professional standard from a Gladiator kit, it has been fitted with a wealth of beautiful detail and with its working inside motion makes for a thrilling spectacle when in full flow.
