This wonderful 'King' has been constructed and finished from scratch built brass components and finished as preserved example no. 6024 'King Edward I'. The model here has also been fitted with DCC Sound on a LokSound XL decoder.
Built in 1930 as part of the 30 strong class of Kings designed for the GWR's top express services, 'King Edward I' was allocated to Newton Abbot from new and ended its days at Cardiff Canton. Unlike 27 of her other classmates she was later preserved and has now recently returned to the mainline. Two other Kings have also been preserved, these being class pioneer 'King George V' and 'King Edward II'.
