BR's Standard Class 7 locomotives entered service in the early 1950s on main-line duties throughout England. Generally regarded as a success, their careers were cut short by the coming of the diesels. No. 70038 was built at Crewe in 1953 and initially allocated to Stratford. The loco survived until 1967, when it was withdrawn from Carlisle Kingmoor shed.
This example is of Gauge 1 Model Railway Company/Accucraft origin; it is in excellent condition and is free steaming.
