Heljan's weighty 48DS Ruston & Hornsby diesel shunter is the perfect O gauge starting point for any small layout. An excellent smooth runner, the model has also been DCC fitted.
Introduced from 1937, over 200 of these useful shunters were constructed for industrial/private use. Targeting smaller industrial sites who could not afford steam, or where steam was not suited for the work required, construction of the type lasted until 1967. With many examples being exported, around 14 survive in various states across Britain's heritage sector.
