BR's 'Derby Lightweights' were among the first multiple units to enter squadron service in the mid-1950s and became particularly associated with services in the Midlands and northern England. Their distinctive and stylish design featured large glass windows to the cabs, affording occupants an excellent view.
Sancheng's unpainted brass model provides an excellent canvas and this particular example has been painted, and very lightly weathered, to a professional standard. Accurate control equipment in the cabs has been fitted, along with drivers, and finescale seating added. Lighting is provided at both ends - a detachable three point connector is wired through the corridor ends - which is reversible white/red according to direction of travel.
There are some minor marks from previous use but this is overall an excellent and well presented model.
