Four Little Words

This week we’re focusing on four little words that cause a pristine engine’s heart to flutter and leave anyone seeing their results wanting to pick up the phone and dial our number. Those words are, of course, ‘weathered by Neil Armitage’.

Neil’s been a long-term fixture at Ellis Clark trains, and the fruits of his labour can often be seen on videos and social posts promoting large-scale engines for sale that have graced his workbench. But it's not just beefy, smoke-belching, multi-pistoned giants that enjoy the Neil treatment – any model purchased from our website is fair game. Neil completed this set of five MK1 ‘Subs’ for a customer earlier this week; expertly detailed (with no two exactly the same), they’re looking just the business for the daily grind – and grime –  of 1960s commuter trains.

If you’d like Neil to number and/or weather any new or pre-owned O gauge model bought from us, just click on the ‘Add Weathering’ link when ordering and fill in your requirements – or give us a call. You can supply us with photos or simply give us a rough idea of what you want and let Neil do the work for you from his own library and extensive knowledge.

It’s a great time to get into O Gauge. Recent price reductions on many ready-to-run models have made the scale more accessible than ever, especially to Diesel and Electric modellers. And with our own highly-specced Pug on the horizon (expected to land this autumn), there’s never been a better time to cobble together a ‘micro’ and test the waters. We’ve put together a handy page summing up the attractions of O Gauge and how to get started, with the caveat that it’s usually a one-way ticket – once bitten, you’re bound to be smitten!
