Finescale O Gauge (Kit-Built) GWR 28xx 2857, GWR Green

1 item left

Constructed to an excellent standard from a Slaters brass/ white metal kit. Churchward designed these locomotives as heavy-freight locos for the Great Western Railway.

No. 2857 was built in 1918 and was delivered to Salisbury GWR depot. She was withdrawn in April 1963, before being sold as scrap to Woodham Brothers at Barry Docks in South Wales. This 28xx was purchased in May 1974, by the 2857 Fund and moved by rail to the Severn Valley Railway in convoy with Collett Mogul 7325.

2857 is currently under overhaul at the SVR, with a bright looking future with the news of Riley & Sons participating in the completion of the work.
