Designed by Gresley as a shortened A3, the V2s were put to work on fast freight duties and other mixed traffic turns. 184 V2s where built, and they quickly earned the reputation as "the engines that won the war". This example No. 60860 was constructed in 1939 at Darlington Works and was firstly allocated to Gateshead Shed. Lasting in service 1962 the locomotive was eventually withdrawn and later scrapped from Heaton Shed.
This DJH kit-built model (Limited Edition 57 of 175) showcases excellent detail and has been upgraded with an excellent sounding Cliff Williams sound file on a LokSound Decoder.
